'After we hold up the cup, I’m leaving’

It has been learned that defensive player Willie Solomon, who had a large role in the success of Fenerbahçe Ülker for two seasons, is preparing to bid farewell.  The American star confided his lack of satisfaction, despite his success here, saying, “After we win the cup I’ll be leaving.” The San Antonio Spurs of the NBA want to add the star player to their team roster.

The 5th match of the Beko Basketball League final series will begin at 20:00 tonight at Abdi Ipekçi. The series stands at 3-1 and if Fenerbahçe Ülker is victorious tonight, the team will have won back to back league championships.   The series began at 0-0, and with two wins in Istanbul, Fenerbahçe had a huge advantage when it went to Ankara for the next two matches. After back to back wins in Ankara, last year’s popular league champions return to Istanbul tonight for the 5th game, and a possible third league championship.

A win for Fenerbahçe, which defeated Efes Pilsen 4-0 in the 2006-2007 season, will make it the fifth club to win the championship. If Telekom wins the match tonight, the series will stand at 3 – 2 and another game will be played in Ankara. The first team to win a total of 4 matches in the series will be the league champions.  This critical encounter will be televised live by NTV.  Ülker has prepared a special show for Fenerbahçe fans at the match in Abdi Ipekçi tonight.
