An Award for Ülker from Turkey’s Patent Institute

Ülker has received an award in the “Brand Application” category of the Turkey Patent Institute’s 2nd annual "Turk Patent Awards"

The Turk Patent Institute held an international conference on February 13th and 14th, 2008 whose theme was “Contributions to the Patent System Innovation Process”.  As part of the Patent League portion of the conference, during the “Turk Patent Awards” ceremony, Ülker’s parent company, Yıldız Holding was honored and presented with the award for “Brand Application”. At the February 14 ceremony, the award was accepted by Ülker Corporate Communications Director, Hakan Artış.

Ülker reaches markets in Turkey and the world with a product portfolio of almost 200 brand names.  In 2007 the company received a total of 253 applications from other brand names. Since its founding, Ülker has based the designs of its products on pleasing the “Turkish Palate”.  In 2007, the company’s R&D laboratory tested and studied more than 300 new products. As a result of the studies, 100 of these new brands were introduced to consumers.
Evaluations of the data obtained were carried out at Gazi University by a jury composed of experts from  TÜBİTAK (Turkish Scientific And Technical Researches Institution), TOSYÖV, (Turkish Foundation for Small and Medium Business), KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprise Development Organization), TTGV, (Technology Development Foundation of Turkey) and TOBB (Turkish Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges).

The purpose of the Turkish Patent Institute is to raise awareness of industrial property rights in Turkey, to spread awareness and knowledge about, and foster cooperation among relevant organizations, corporations and representatives of the sector, to protect and prepare brand names, services, patents and designs for the European Union’s competitive conditions, to enhance cooperation in international forums. In an effort to encourage these ideals and to reward successes, the annual “Turkish Patent Awards” were organized and held for the first time in 2006.
