Matches in the Ülker-sponsored Miniminikler League are being played at a cut-throat pace. 197 teams in 22 groups are competing for the championship and many players are having great success and making strong impressions.
The Istanbul Football Championship that is being sponsored by Ülker continued during last weekend and games that were played were met with great enthusiasm. The teams did their best and struggled valiantly to avoid being defeated. However they did not forget the rules of fair play. The gentlemanly footballers who took part in the competition told their parents, “I hope that the big teams will follow our example. This is the way to play sports.” Training coaches from some of the regular clubs have already begun to follow some of the youngsters’ progress. Coaches are meeting with some of players who impressed them and scheduling interviews with their parents.
Atakent still hasn’t had a win!
The team of Atakent, whose players are Berk, Ahmet, Mertcan, Egehan, Murat, Arat, Taha, Berk Tabak and Ahmet don’t have anything to smile about yet. Even though they were defeated every time, the red and whites displayed sportsmanlike behavior in their games against Hadımköy (2-1), Büyükçekmece (2-0) and Ikitelli (3-1). They were quite upset about their losses.
Istanbul Sinop missed an opportunity!
In their first match, Istanbul Sinop defeated Filizspor 5-4 and made a good start in the league, but in the second match, against Mustafa Kemalpaşathey missed an opportunity and lost 2-1. The yellow and navy team, which placed in the top 8, had strong players like Sercan, Erkan, Semih, Ersoy, Erkut, Batuhan, Kaan and Ahmet have high hopes for the future.
A setback for the little ones of Western Thrace!
The Western Thrace team made a good start with their wins of Tozkoparan (4-0) and Kocamustafapaşa ( 9-1). In their third match, they suffered their first defeat at the hands of Damlaspor (3-1). Players Anıl, Ali, Mustafa, Sefa, Mert, Furkan, Eren and Abdullah were heard to comment, ‘No more defeats after this one.’
Gaziosmanpaşa was vindicated later on!
When Beşiktaş lost by a score of 6-2, the little ones of Gaziosmanpaşa finally started to smile. The red and white team consisting of Samet, Sefa, Kazım, Orhan, Burak, Abidin, Harun, Berkay, Oktay, Emre, Anıl, Onur, Hüseyin, Tarık, Yunusemre and Umut defeated Pendikspor 1-0 and began to get enthusiastic about the championship.
