Trabzonspor and Alpella basketball teams merge

Trabzonspor has been purchased by the Ülker Group-associated basketball team, Alpella.

The Trabzonspor Basketball Team has purchased Alpella which played in the Regional Basketball League 2nd League last year.  Trabzonspor manager Celil Hekimoğlu, was included in the deal, along with 10 of Alpella’s players.

Hekimoğlu commented, "Trabzonspor must play its very best in every field.  We wanted to bring the basketball branch of Trabzonspor to its rightful place. Therefore, when Alpella fell out of the 1st league last year, we made a deal with them. We will attempt to get to the championship in the 2nd league with Alpella.  We will organize a ceremony to introduce out basketball team. We have found a sponsor for the team. This team will not create any additional obligations for the club."

Thus, the Ülker Group becomes a sponsor of Trabzonspor, as well as Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş. The group supports Fenerbahçe Ülker which was formed by the merger of Ülkerspor and Fenerbahçe, and the two other big teams, Galatasaray with the Café Crown brand name, and Beşiktaş with the Cola Turka brand name.
