Ülker buys Önem Gıda
Ülker has bought Önem Gıda – one of their suppliers of semi-finished goods – from Yıldız Holding. By gathering all their chocolate and bakery products’ production processes within its corporate structure, Ülker has taken another major step in its sustainable growth strategy.
Türkiye’s leading food company, Ülker Biscuits, has acquired Önem Gıda A.Ş, a former Yıldız Holding company which supplies main ingredients such as chocolate dough, flour, and hazelnuts.
After the acquisiton was announced on the Public Disclosure Paltform, Ülker Biscuits incorporated Önem Gıda, one of its main suppliers, in order to create synergy in the company’s main categories [chocolate and bakery products] and strengthen its sustainable and profitable growth.
Önem Gıda is one of Ülker’s main ingredient suppliers with its chocolate dough, cocoa powder, chocolate drops, and couverture production factories in Istanbul’s Topkapı district, a hazelnut processing and hazelnut puree plant in Giresun, and flour production plants in Ankara and Karaman.

Underlining that the decision to acquire Önem Gıda will contribute to Ülker’s achievement of its strategic goals in the coming period, Ülker’s CEO Mete Buyurgan said “With this acquisition, we aim to create high-level synergy between companies and build a structure that will accelerate Ülker’s profitable, sustainable growth. Önem Gıda’s acquisition is strategically valuable because it integrates the most important part of producing chocolate and bakery products within Ülker Biscuit”.
