Ülker signs an equal partnership agreement with Uno Unlu Mamüller
UBS is a subsidiary company of Yıldız Holding employing a workforce of 23,500 in Turkey, with revenues of 7.5 billion US dollars in 2006. Ülker’s own subsidiary, Fresh Cake Gıda A.Ş., has purchased 50% of the shares of Unmaş Unlu Mamuller San. Tic. A.Ş (UNO Ekmek) and Doruk Unlu Mamuller San., giving Ülker a 50% share in the pre-packaged bread maker, UNO. During the purchasing process, the total value of the sister companies was calculated at more than 75 million US dollars.
Ülker decided to complete the acquisition because UNO's brand recognition, distribution network and production strategy were in line with Ülker's innovative concepts. UNO currently has a 75 percent market share of the pre-packaged bread market in Turkey, making deliveries to more than 50 cities. UNO has a production facility in İstanbul and plans to launch a second factory in Ankara. As a result of investment, UNO's annual production capacity will increase from 35,000 tons to 50,000 tons.
