Ülker wins two Golden Compass Awards from TÜHID
Ülker has won two Golden Compass awards for its April 23 Free Film Screening and its National Team Euro 2008 projects in the Golden Compass Turkish Public Relations Association Competition, which was organized for the 8th time this year.
Established in 1999 to encourage and recognize successful public relations activities, the Golden Compass Turkish Public Relations Association Competition organized by the Turkish Public Relations Association (TÜHID,) has taken place for the 8th consecutive year. Ülker won two awards: one in the Event Organization” category for its April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day Free Movie Event project, and another in the “Sponsorship” category for its Ülker National Team Euro 2008 communications project.
Following the June 15 awards ceremony, Yıldız Holding Corporate Communications Director Zuhal Şeker made this statement: “Yıldız Holding’s products and services have been customer-focused ever since the birth of the Ülker brand, 65 years ago. That focus has always been apparent in the ways we have used our resources to create and maintain our social responsibility and sponsorship projects. We are the largest supporter of sports in Turkey. We wanted to create even more happy moments for the kids, and organize more projects to encourage them to be active in sports. We are very happy to accept these two Golden Compass awards which the Turkish Public Relations Association has presented to Ülker in recognition of our child and sports-oriented projects.”
Yıldız Holding’s flagship brand Ülker won one of its awards in the Event Organization” category for its April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day Free Movie Event project, prepared in accordance with company founder, Sabri Ülker’s principle, “no matter where a person lives in the world, every child has the right to a happy childhood”. With that mission in mind, the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day Free Movie Event project which was started in 2008, was organized for the second time in conjunction with the annual April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day Festival, as a “children’s festival memory”.
An analysis of the 2008 Ülker Children’s Day Free Movie Event project was shared at the Golden Compass awards ceremony. The film, “Nim’s Island” was shown simultaneously in 125 auditoriums in 33 Turkish provinces on April 19-20, 2008. A total of 81,000 gift packets were distributed to the children as they left the auditoriums after the movie. Besides the 270 field workers that assisted at the event, 143 Ülker employees also took active roles in the field. Over the two days, 165 people attended the film, 125,000 of whom were children. The project, which was organized for the second time in 2009, took place over two days, April 19-20, 2009. The movie, The Secret of the Moonacre”, was shown in 49 separate cities and was attended by 170,000 people, 130,000 of whom were children.
The category in which Ülker won its other Golden Compass Award was “Sponsorship”. Ülker was recognized for its National Football Team Euro 2008 communications activities. The Euro 2008 communications activities organized to support the Turkish National Team’s participation ran between May 20 and June 29, 2008. The double-pronged communication activities were created to raise awareness of football as an industry and our country’s participation in Euro 2008. The communications project emphasized the economic dimension of football and especially of Euro 2008.
