Ülker’s international sustainability success

Ülker continues to make a name for itself on national and international platforms with its sustainability efforts, becoming the first and only Turkish company in the food sector to be included on S&P Global's “2021 Sustainability Yearbook” list.

Ülker, Türkiye’s leading food company, was among the top 631 companies on the “2021 Sustainability Yearbook” list, which includes the best performances among 7,000 companies from 61 sectors, as prepared by the international rating agency S&P Global.

Stating that they are very happy to be the first and only Turkish company among the 20 global companies in the list’s food category, Ülker’s CEO Mete Buyurgan continued:

“At Ülker, we are working non-stop with a waste-free company model to leave a livable world to future generations and to ensure the sustainability of our business. We have conducted our sustainability activities according to the long-term goals we set in 2014. We have been listed on the Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index since 2015, and on the global sustainability index FTSE4Good Emerging Markets Index since 2016. The response to our sustainability efforts on both national and international platforms shows that we are on the right track."

Buyurgan said that sustainability work starts from the soil and is shaped by including all stakeholders - manufacturers, suppliers, business partners, and consumers. "We develop projects according to our goals, especially in water and energy conservation, waste reduction, food protection, human resources, sustainable raw materials supply, and production quality. We take the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals as a basis, with the goal of wasting no resources at any step of our operations while sustainably growing. At the same time, our production, investments, employment, and exports will continue to provide added value to our country, as it always has."
